No Meetings in June and July – July 18th Holy Land of Kentucky Tour

Standard

NOTICE:  SIS will not be holding a meeting in June or July.  Our next regular meeting will be on August 31st.

There was an error in St. Athanasius Church’s bulletin today, stating that SIS has a meeting tomorrow night.  We DO NOT meet tomorrow.

Instead of having a meeting, we invite our ladies (and their guests) to participate in the Holy Land of Kentucky Tour on Saturday, July 18th.

  • Led by Father Gary Davis
  • Bring your own lunch and drink – we will have coolers on hand.
  • Bus transportation (limited to 1st 50 to sign up) – $20 per person.
  • Reservations are due by Sunday, July 12th.
  • The itinerary:

8:30 – gather at St. Athanasius

8:45 – leave from St. A’s front parking lot

9:30 – St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, Bardstown

10:30 – St. Thomas (tour church & museum) and lunch at their pavilion

12:15 – Gethsemani for Liturgy of the Hours, visitor center, gift shop, Thomas Merton’s grave

2:00 – Nazareth, tour church and museum

4:00 – Return to St. Athanasius

Please see the bulletin for registration information or contact Debbie Minton at the St. Athanasius Parish Center, 969-3332.

Next Meeting on Monday – May Procession

Standard

Next meeting: Monday, May  18th at St. Athanasius Church.

Time: 7:00-8:00PM, with refreshments in the cafeteria to follow.

Event: “May Procession”

Bring a flower for Our Lady!

May crowning. Music.  Fellowship.  Food.

Instead of limiting this event to only women (12 and older), we’re opening this even to EVERYONE (men, women, children).  Childcare will not be available, since children are also welcome at the May Procession.

Those who plan to attend are invited to bring a cut flower (or an artificial one if you prefer) to place near the statue of Our Lady.

Debbie Sandler will provide music.  Bill Poole will sing “Ave Maria.”  Debbie Minton will present a testimony regarding Mary.  Our Lady will be crowned.  Great food and fellowship will follow!

If you would like to volunteer to provide refreshments, please fill out the form on the Refreshments page on this website, contact Sheila King, or notify the leadership team by posting on the SIS Facebook page.

Women’s Retreat – March 28th – Easter Egg Hunt Option

Standard

St. Athanasius will be holding a Women’s Retreat on Saturday, March 28th from 8:45AM to 3:00PM.  On that same day, the St. Athanasius Booster Club is having an Easter Egg Hunt (from 11AM to about noon), followed by lunch and games (from about noon to 1:00PM).  For ladies interested in attending the Easter Egg hunt with their children or grandchildren, it WILL NOT be a problem for you to leave the retreat at 10:50 and return for lunch at noon. What you will miss is our annual sing-along in Church and one 20 minute talk. The bulk of the material in that talk will be covered on handouts you can get when you rejoin us during lunch. So, if you were “on-the-fence” on whether or not to attend the Retreat versus the Egg Hunt, please be assured that you CAN do both.

Our annual parish women’s retreat is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 8:45-3:00 PM. Our theme this year is Like Jesus and includes Mass at 9:00 AM. The retreat will be led by Karen Purnell and all women 12 and older are welcome. There is a $12 fee for the retreat, which includes lunch. Registration forms are available in the back of Church or by downloading the following PDF form: Like Jesus Flyer

Next Meeting – October 20th

Standard

Our next meeting: “Crafts, Puzzles, and Prayer” October 20th in St. Athanasius’ cafeteria.  Everything from jigsaws to crafts! Bring a good pair of scissors to use, if you can. Time: 7:00-8:00PM; autumn refreshments to follow. All women, 12 and older, are invited. Children ages 4-11 also welcome at this meeting to work on craft projects with a SIS leader.  If you need transportation to and/or from the meeting or if you have questions, please contact us by using the Contact page.

We still need volunteers to bring refreshments to the October meeting.  If you would like to volunteer, please complete the form on the Refreshments page.  Thank you!
